Garmisch-Partenkirchen” - c. 1970s - watercolor and charcoal - Gene traveled to Germany as part of a group from J.I. Case, earning a free trip by creating marketing material for a contest. The quaint ski town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria was one of the destinations.

"Santa Prisca de Taxco" - watercolor - Easily recognized, the Santa Prisca de Taxco was built with pink stone — flanked by two towers which are plain in the lower half but highly decorated in the upper bell portions.

“Taxco” - watercolor - Taxco, known for its silver mines and silver jewelry and its lovely Santa Prisca Cathedral, is located between Mexico City and Acapulco. With its charming cobblestone streets and red tiled roofs, it is a picturesque place to paint!

“The Red Dome” - 1961 - watercolor - The red onion dome provides a striking contrast to the snowy blue Zugspitz Mountain, the highest peak of the Wetterstein Mountains as well as the highest mountain in Germany. It lies south of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

“The Red Dome II” - c. 1960s - watercolor - A stylized version of The Red Dome, this onion dome blends into its landscape while the snowy blue mountains take the focus. Although Gene did not indicate the location for this scene it was probably in Bavaria.
