“Maine Lighthouse” - 1983 - watercolor - Honorable Mention Winner, Illinois Watercolor Society, 2nd Annual Exhibition. Gene traveled with fellow artists on a Painting Holidays, New England Workshop capturing the beauty of the northeastern coastline.

“St. Simons Lighthouse” - 1990 - watercolor - Gene painted this lighthouse which was built in 1872 to replace the original lighthouse built in 1810 by James Gould of Massachusetts, the first lighthouse keeper. Located at the southern tip of St. Simons Island, Georgia.

“Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin” - c. 1980s - watercolor - A vacation spot for many families, this harbor showcases the variety of boats found in Door County.

“Invader II, LaPointe” - c. 1980s - watercolor - Gene painted this dry docked boat while vacationing in the North Woods of Wisconsin.

“Docked I” - c. 1980s - watercolor - Gene painted all kinds of boats from fishing to sailing to freighters. This one is tranquilly docked on a bright summer day.

“The Queen” - c. 1960s - watercolor - An example of the commercial style of Gene's paintings, Originally launched on Iowa's Spirit Lake, the 75 foot long steamboat Queen was moved to West Okoboji in 1884 amid concerns that Spirit Lake was drying up. For 89 years, she was instrumental in growing tourism for Iowa's “Great Lakes,” hauling lumber, mail, but primarily people across Okoboji. Today, her heir “Queen II” still offers daily tours around the lake.
