“Crab Tree Farm” - c. 1990s - watercolor - Gene led many painting outings for seniors in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, Illinois; here, a gentleman's farm on Sheridan Road in Lake Bluff.

“Historic Market Square” - c. 1980s - watercolor - In Lake Forest, Illinois, a gathering place and center of the first planned "shopping center"; listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The fountain features a sculpture by Sylvia Shaw Judson, “Girl with Baby on Shoulder.”

"Lake Forest Library Friends Book Sale" - c. 1980s - watercolor - Every September the Friends of Lake Forest Library held a huge used book sale under the tent in Market Square. Like all used book sales, there were treasures to be found!
